What happens in the first week of a build

From signed quote to first demo: a day-by-day look at week one.

Founders often ask what they'll actually see in the first week of a build. Here's how week one runs on a typical web app.

Monday: kickoff

A 45-minute call with your delivery lead, designer and engineers. We walk through the plan, confirm the first milestone and open a shared Slack channel. Your GitHub organization, cloud account and Figma team are connected or created in your name.

Tuesday to Thursday: flows and screens

The designer turns the scope into user flows and the first screens. The engineers set up the project, the database and deployment, so there's a working link to check early in the week.

Every evening: a written update

What shipped, what's next and anything we need from you, in a few lines. No status meetings needed.

Friday: the first demo

A recorded walkthrough of the clickable prototype and the working setup. You approve the designs, and only then is the first milestone invoiced.

The Idea Lab turns a two-sentence idea into a build plan: why it could work, what to get right first, the first version worth building and its price. Two minutes, from our published rates.
